Comparison between the Furby and me other car...!

Featured Replies

I joined the forum about 6 weeks ago or so after getting an 05 Fabia vRS. My other (weekend) car is an Integra Type-R. Here's a little comparison for anyone who's interested :D

Day to Day driving

The Fabia is by far the easier car to drive, easy light clutch, forgiving suspension over speed ramps, good visibility all round, rear seats come out for added luggage space (aslong as u dont need the rear seats!). The short front of the Fab makes it easy to park, although I find the side visibility more difficult to guage than my old fiesta. You sit higher in the Fab but the seats are very comfortable and you seem to float around the roads.

The Teg on the other hand is very harsh day to day, its funny but when it was my daily driver I didin't notice the things I do now. Like the incredible engine noise at 80 on the motorway, I keep thinking I'm still in third or something :D You sit alot lower in the Teg with the wheel right in front of you. The Teg is more thirsty although its not so bad if you don't cane it (nowhere near Fab levels). The steering is very heavy on the Teg by comparison, it almost feels like it hasn't got any power steering!

Progressive (ahem!) Driving

Well what can I say, the Fabia is a great car but after a few weeks driving both, I now realise just how much more focused a drivers car the Integra is. All of things it does worse in a day to day scenario turn around when you are looking to make some serious progress. I have so much more confidence when cornering sweeping bends at high speed in the Teg, in fact the suspension of the Fabia is one of the things that does frustrate me slightly, for a car so capable in a straight line the suspension is way too soft (of course this is a plus point when driiving day to day :), eibachs r calling me..... :D )

I miss the instant surge of the Fabia in the Teg, its amazing how much of a contrast these two cars are, both cars need alot of swift gear changes to make progress but the differences is that in the Teg you are hanging on to each gear until the engine is screaming at 8000 rpm. In the Fab its all over by 3000 so you might as well change again!!

I have done some intial tests and what I will say is in the real world, in a straight line, the Fabia is a very capable car. The Integra on the other hand shines in its cornering abilities and the race like sensation you get whilst driving it.

All in all, I can't think of a couple of better cars to own (4 the price....). Both have their own forte's and the contrast between the two keeps both exciting in their own way.

Welcome :orb_wave:

Like the comparison :) I think even if you lowered, and remapped the Furby, it would be a more exciting car to drive, maybe not as exciting as the CTR, but you might loose the day to day drivability ( as you put it.).

Glad you like both, maybe you could look out for a local meet, and try a remapped Furby. :D

Interesting thread.

I've driven an Integra Type-R (DC2) on a track, and it is a fantastic car. If you've got the necessary lack of mechanical sympathy to cane it round to 8500 RPM in each gear, it's very quick too. I found the back end a bit loose though, for a FWD car. Actually, i spun it chasing an S2000 powered Westfield. He'd just passed me on a straight leading into a big right-hander. Before entering the corner, Manguish (who owned the 'Teg) warned me "Don't even think about it.". Needless to say, i went for it, and wound up facing the wrong way on the grass. It was the first time i'd driven the car though...
