Its the build I was more interested in and how the interface is made to look like KITT.

Fair play Martyn well spotted.

They are very well made, puts mine to shame LOL (Have to work on it !)

Not really going for the KIT look, but they do give me some ideas

Mines working really well at the moment apart from charging it up about once a week. All of the 12 volt usb charges that I have tried have failed to charge the Nexus 7 properly, so still look for a better charger !

As for apps you might want to try this

Its called RaceMeter for the Torque App.

Works well but some little bugs need to be sorted out

Cheers

Karl

Whats wrong with the charger? Have you tried the 2.1A USB chargers on fleabay or the likes?

I was having similar issues with my note2, only likes 1A+ chargers....

I was thinking, does it have NFC? you can tag it to make it switch on things and untag for standby mode. In fact, is the unit on all the time? How do you switch it off an on when not using the car?

Is that in your car?

Looks amazing, how did I miss this? :(

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Hi John,

Tried various chargers, all of which indicate that they are charging but the tablet still slowly discharges at the rate of 2% per hour use. The current one I bought from Maplins and is rated at 3.1 amps !, but its still not doing the job. The included mains charger is rated at 2 amps and fully charges the tablet in about 4 hours even when it is on. It has NFC but haven't used it.

The tablet is on all the time but using an app called 'tasker' I get it to turn on the screen, bluetooth and gps when ignition is on, and then turn them all off when the key is removed.

Still working on a number of bugs but has been in the car now for two months and is proving reliable.

I hope you are at Combe in April, I need to have a closer look at this. :)

Should be there Richard, I haven't missed the last 4 but I have not booked yet as don't know if I'll be on track, as I have been bugged by brake problems on the last two sessions and I want to sort them out before I commit to the track.

Cheers

Have you tried changing the lead or using original lead? I was reading on xda developers website that there's big difference on charging times using different usb leads. one way of bodging a generic usb lead was make the usb lead into a dedicated power charging lead by connecting the two data wires together (green and white iirc?). of course this makes it charge only. I'll try find the thread for you when I have some free time, there were over 10 pages to sieve though but think general gist was original/official leads and chargers were best.

My note 2 charges 1-2% per min on the original charger (wall plug) full in 1.5-2hrs [3100mah, 2A charger]. With the 2.1a (car plug) it takes little longer but definitely not slow charge. While satnav and internet radio is in use maybe charges 1%/3 mins? Try use "Battery monitor widget" or similar if you want to see rate of charge/discharge etc.

I suppose NFC maybe not as suitable for you as its permanently placed there whereas my phone is somewhat mobile.

Im just spit-balling,

Hope you'll be there Karl it's a 370 mile round trip for me and I'd love to see your car

Thanks for the info John,

Tried various cables, including the original one, even cut the a cable apart and shorted the data leads, but still no luck, some American guy recommended a Rockfish one but can't get them here so looking round for some others. Will try the "Battery monitor widget" to see which of the chargers is the best so far.

I will be Charlie, but as I said hoping it will be the track not the stand. Just noticed you've moved from the stand to the track - you won't regret it. My Fab may look the part but its just got a tuning box fitted yours should fly round. Its good fun and you'll get hooked

Cheers

Karl

Hopefully so mate :)
