Have been looking for a tuning box rather than an ecu remap. I want to be able to revert the engine back to standard from time to time.

Your thoughts please......

I've been thinking of this for my golf , some say its flooding the engine with more fuel and therefore more power and the extra mpg figures are just a mirage ?

Current tuning boxes are essentially a generic map that piggybacks your existing one. Any crude adjustments like just dumping extra fuel in (like the old resistor in a box type) would have the car running like crap and clogging the DPF in no time. I run a TMC box, previously on a 1.2 TSi (petrol) which required connections to the boost pressure sensor, crankshaft position sensor and manifold pressure sensor to get an accurate increase on fuel and boost. Never had an error code in 2.5 years. I just got the box reprogrammed and a new wiring harness supplied for my 1.8 TSi (didn't need the crankshaft position sensor on this engine) and that is delivering improved economy on normal driving and extra shove if I want it.

I only have experience of TMC boxes on petrol engines (as do a number of others on here) but I would have no hesitation in recommending using one on a diesel as well. The only concern I would have is; does anybody else offer one on this engine? Delivering this amount of performance increase? Can you find any evidence positive or otherwise about using one on this engine in any other forums?
