Am I being messed around by my dealer?

Featured Replies

I ordered an Octavia VRS diesel estate DSG at the beginning of November. I wanted a black line but was told they had all been sold out. I was also told that there were no cars in the system that matched my requirements (eg, estate/DSG/diesel either black line or no further options).

The car has been pushed back a couple of times and I'm now roughly expecting another months wait. I've just come on here to find out if other people are waiting, only to see people talking about ordering the exact Blackline that I wanted in the last few days and getting them delivered almost straight away.

Before I go and cancel my order in fury, could someone let me know if I've got the wrong end of the stick or whether I'm paying the same price for a car I've waited 3 months for as others are getting with £2k of extras who have only just ordered?!

I wonder what the wait is, since I believe they have not been in production for a few months now? It does seem odd though as I'm not sure why they would accept the order if that was the case.

I heard there were still some blackline's left, all estates. Maybe call another dealer

Hi, I have just ordered a metallic black Octavia VRS blackline manual estate on Friday from Westgate Skoda in Grimsby.

Mark the salesman was great to deal with so why not give him a call and see if there are any DSG estates on the system, at least that way youll know if they are telling you lies.

I ended up buying from a dealer over 160 miles from me, just because he was the first not to try and wipe my eye on the deal and my trade in price.

Westgates no. is 01472349045.

Cheers

I visited my dealer for a service last week on my VRS. The car salesman tried to tempt me with a VRS Blackline diesel Estate. He told me that they had all been sold but extra stock had just appeared. He had one in the showroom and had ordered a couple more.

Good luck.

So much for being limited to 500, not so much of a LTD model, if cars are just appearing, how many people said on here this would happen.

Walked by a dealership today, there were two Blackline estates in the showroom and a further three sat around the side!

Kind Regards

I personally would cancel it regardless of any deposit and argue that anyway. Then wait for the new VRS which supposedly is out this summer. I bought my Octavia when I did not now as I didn't want to buy something new that would immediately be the old model. Obviously that's an ideal world thing to do might not be possible and new one will likely be a few grand more with little in the way of offers on release etc.

If the order has been subsntially or repeatedly put back, you might be able to cancel. If its just that they reckon it will be a week or two late then you might hae less of a case.

The blacklines did run out - then try (apparently) put another 100 estates on. There have been more appearing here and there so who knows how many there will end up being (although at a guess I'd say there will be less than a thousand) but to an extent that shouldn't matter. This was billed as a 'limited' edition but it was always really a 'special' edition and there are normally plenty of those.

The blackline seems to be a very good deal I'd say speak to another dealer, find out if there are any more out there, then speak to your dealer about swapping te deal. If they won't, look at the terms and conditions on any paperwork you have and see what your options are.....

when the new vRS comes out it will be substantially more and won't be vat free and have £1900 worth of extras, the Blackline is a bargain to say the least!

There is a race blue Blackline estate at Willis Skoda Ruislip sat in the showroom.

Thanks for the replies. I phoned a couple of other dealers and they said that they 'might' have some Blacklines in the spec that I wanted, but said I couldn't make a new order for one. Decided to just sit it out and get the car I've ordered now I've waited so damned long for it. The dealer really is hopeless at keeping us updated and I've had to chase constantly. Only now have I discovered the Track My Skoda website (the dealer said they didn't tell me about it because it isn't accurate!) and I can see that my car is 'cleared for shipping at Emden'.

Anyone know which ships I should be spying on for the Emden / Grimsby route?

I don't think your dealer has necesarily messed you about- maybe a bit lax, just depends what instructions you gave them when you ordered I guess. As previous the initial supposed 500 were sold before Christmas, Skoda then built some 100? more estates and released then to the national stock list. If Skoda put cars on the national available stock list the dealer can't order one without registering it, that's the way skoda operates- it seems to be a bit hit and miss with cars being drip fed on to the stock list when they're ready, it's a bit like waiting at the factory gates to see what's leaving the factory today! As you've placed a firm order you should get yours as it should have been allocated from the remaining parts stock. Any Blacklines left now are likely to be pre registered.

Think you've probably hit the nail on the head there. I reckon the ordering system is a bit rubbish (not able to give any firm dates at any point during process!) and then the salesman doesn't want to be the one to phone me up and say its going to be delayed again. Not very amazing from a customer point of view though. Just want my car now, Blackline or not!
