Half decent spec but well overpriced. I purchased mine over 2 and a half years ago from a dealer with 1 owner Full Skoda History, 92K miles, with PDC, MaxiDot, JumboBox, 18's, Cruise, Dual Climate, Auto Wipers, in Race Blue for £6200.

I would of thought £5K tops for that one, even £4.5K.

Way over priced.

There are a few on autotrader a year newer with similar mileage from traders for just under £5k.

I agree with vrs777.......considering it's a private sale I'd say £4.5k is nearer the mark......on a good day!

even the diesels are dropping a fair bit now. i was going to shove my 06 plate estate with the same spec but 15k less miles on for 4500 late last year but decided to keep and treat it. does seem a little overpriced. by comparison, i think bluevrs (?) old car with a massive spec by comparison was on at only a touch more than that at a dealer.

I bought my derv in november for 7.4k and that was average price, I only saw 1 which was less

That's a nice motor but I would agree a bit over priced for a private sale.

I think the way the market is at the moment it's hard to price your vehicle correctly. I currently have mine in the same place which is under that price and newer!!!!!! Perhaps people don't want to be taking to much of a hit in the pockets or they didn't do the research before hand. Just my own opinion

I would get a petrol VRS

although not as economical MPG wise

Cheaper to buy , potentially not as many running issues and faster!

They're only slightly faster than the diesel.

Personally, if I'd have to have a petrol I'd have a 1.8 Tsi over a petrol vRS.

for the miles i do, a petrol is a cheaper, faster option so the market is there. there's a lot of people who just think diesel = more mpg = cheaper to run and while those people are out there, diesels will retain a premium over what's considered a thirst petrol (when in actual fact it could work out cheaper for some diesel buyers to have bought a petrol).

2 Litre is not that big an engine, its pretty standard for an Octavia sized car.

They are cheaper to run. The problem is they are more expensive to buy, and as you say there is a break even point to consider with mileage vs purchase price.

I think if you are buying new you have to think very carefully about this and calculate the overall costs carefully. But it's not quite so clear cut when buying second hand after most of the depreciation has occurred. You may pay £1000 more for a 6 year old diesel car compared to a similar spec petrol car. But 3 years down the line you will get more for the diesel car when you sell it....possibly £1000 more.

So actually, it might not be cheaper to buy a 6 year old petrol at all, regardless of the mileage you do.

I agree with the above personaly.

I've gone from a 1998 Civic VTI-S. This was returning me 30mpg and I was spending near as makes no difference £55+ per week on fuel.

Now with the Octavia VRS Derv I'm only filling up once every 2 weeks and its only about £10 more to fill up. Tax is cheaper, insurance is about the same. Just bought 4 tyres for the octavia and its come to £290 + fitting......thats what the tyres on my Civic were costing me.

I'm looking to buy a vrs petrol bout this age and thought to myself this is well over priced, I'd be intersted in this 1 if it was 4.5-5k but not at that price
