From a Nissan to a Skoda

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

Well there I was in my local Skoda dealer talking about how to get hold of a slightly higher mileage Skoda for my money, and he recommended talking to you all here!

Well apart from going to WOMA that is!

So. Here it is. I currently drive a nissan estate, and its great but its 2.0L and a twin cam so I am now looking for a Skoda diesel, maybe Superb Elegance. Or even a Favorit estate Elegance.

So My question is this.

What do I need to look for on older or high milage Skodas.

What are the worrying signs?

Hoping to gain some advice.

Chris

Welcome to Briskoda. :) Do you mean the Octavia I or II Estate rather than the Favorit Estate? The latter was replaced by the Felicia Estate in 1994, and that in turn went out of production in 2001.

Favorit! God Showing my Age!

Sorry peeps.

OK. I am thinking of either a Fabia Estate and I was thinking around the 53 plate era Sorry. And as far as Octavia is concerned then maybe up to a 03 to 05 plate and then a superb on a 02 to 05 plate.

I have a real hankering after a Superb Elegance with leather and heated seats front and rear! And the wood trim!

Generally though I am looking at either the 1.9 TD 130 Diesel and if younger then the 2.0L TD 140BHP engine.

I know that the engine is good for fairly high mileage and 150K is nothing that worries me generally. So long as its been looked after.

I can highly recommend the Superb. I have recently bought an Edition 100 after wanting one for years, and it's great. If you do end up going the Superb route, don't buy a Mk1 Superb with the 2.0PD motor; they're all a bit engine-lunchy. Get a 1.9PD instead.

Having also had several Octavia vRSs too, I can definitely recommend the brand.

? "What do I need to look for on older or high milage Skodas".

Normally I would say, general condition of the car.

It can be a high mileage but has it been looked after right.

If its been dented on every panel, no service record, & very dirty, I would move on.

Nothing wrong with a good high mileage car.

But look at the deals on at present. No vat on most Skods brings a new or nearly new car into most peeps budget.

Get a p/x price on your nissan, might be enough for a desent deposit?
