Is this a genuine Skoda stereo?

Featured Replies

and if it is, will it go straight into a 56 plate Octavia VRS TDI? I have a 'stream mp3' at the moment

At first glance i thought it was a bolero, but i am not sure. apparently it has come from a 10 plate superb....

Is there any code issues or anything if i put it in?

Looks like a Columbus to me (Sat Nav)

Here it is in an Octavia...

It looks like a Columbus unit, but it doesn't seem to have any writing on it. Maybe its a VW spec RNS510 that has had the skoda firmware installed?

EDIT- sorry forget that, it looks like a VW RCD510 (an RNS without the sat nav)

The Bolero looks similar but does have some subtle differences, here is one in an Octavia...

It is on sale on ebay, £200 inc postage. it just doesnt look quite right when i compare it to other skoda stereos, just a couple of bits that look different. think ive been put off by that and decided not to buy now. wasnt really looking for a stereo, it was nearly another one of those impulse buys, but im over it now... :)

Maybe a Chinese copy?

thanks for the quick responses though!

Its a Superb Bolero, as it only has the 3 x buttons on each side (Columbus has x 4).

They are a slightly different shape to the Octavia Bolero, so obviously will only fit in a Superb.

The Bolero does not have sat nav like the Columbus.

HTH :)

Yeah standard Superb Bolero unit, just looked on Skoda site

The Bolero from a superb will work fine. It just needs a different radio surround, the same as a Columbus.

And you will need a new gateway looking at your age of car. See Eddie NL if you go for it as he sells per coded gateways. This will stop ou flattening your battery
