New Blackline Owner

Featured Replies

Evening All,

Thought I'd pop over and say hello after covertly reading through the forums for a month or two.

I'm Joe, I'm 26, live in north Lincolnshire (5miles from Hull) and I've owned VAG cars for the past 7/8 years. I've listed a few below just for the crack: I've left out the few non VAG cars/mistakes *caugh* escort, astra *caugh*!!!

1989 Mk2 Golf Gti tornado red on Carbs

1990 Mk1 golf gti cabriolet, white (project I never finished!)

2000 Mk4 tornado red golf Gti 1.8t

2000 VW Beetle, black (Mrs)

2006 polo gti, tornado red 1.8t

2008 Mk5 golf tdi match, black (company car)

2006 Audi a4 cab s line, silver (was mine now the Mrs has it)

2006 Octavia VRS estate tfsi in race blue (current but going in the for sale section in next 2 weeks)

2013 Octavia VRS estate tdi DSG Blackline in candy white (sat on Grimsby docks apparently??!!!)

I bought my first skoda around a year ago on the back of owning a few decent and reliable VAG cars (beetle excluded!). I've always fancied an estate and when we bought a house that needed plenty of work, a dog, a load of camping gear and a couple of decent bikes I thought I'd treat myself to a VRS estate instead of the planned mk5 golf Gti.

At the time I was running the a4 cab as an opted-out company car but it just wasn't cutting it for my lead foot, for those who haven't driven an a4 cab, they weigh about as much as Ireland. So the Mrs was delighted to take the cab and I went on the hunt for a VRS. We are really lucky where I work currently with the opted-out allowances and fuel cards so I thought I'd buy a cheapish-car, let somebody foot the fuel bill and make a few quid along the way. The end result is that the VRS is by far the best car I've had, I love it, and I never thought I'd get to that after my mk4 gti, which went through 3years and 80k with no more then tyres and servicing.

So to cut a long story a little shorter, I've got a new job which I start next month. I'm moving to a larger company who are a little more educated and thus lean on the company car front. I have however managed to negotiate a decent opt-out allowance but this time round, no fuel card unfortunately. Furthermore opted-out cars can't be any more than 6 years old and the allowance rate goes down if its over 4 years old, so my 56 plate VRS which I've only had the pleasure of owning for a year, has to go, even though it's only done 40k from new!!

So I dropped into Royce Roberts Skoda in Hull Friday past and within 30mins made a very quick decision to buy a brand new blackline DSG! And so I'm told, its the last candy white, DSG estate there was! I should be picking her up in a week or 2 so pics to follow! I will however start a riot by telling you I'm not collecting it until the wheels have been powdercoated a different colour!! I know I know I know, its the distinguishing feature of the blackline etc but they just don't cut it for me I'm afraid! Each to their own and all that!

Anyway I'll leave it there for now. I'll obviously get my current VRS for sale on here when it's ready, I'll also tell you the tale about buying that car and the nightmare I had running around the country finding a decent one, but that's for another time, it's getting late!

In the meantime, pics below of my current VRS and a few of the above mentioned cars.

Joe

The ice cream van is one of my favourite GTi pics, it was at Clumber Park a few years back, we got back to the car on the bikes and it was just there! lol
