Vcds cable

Featured Replies

Firstly apologies if this should be in a different section, no irritation intended.

I've just ordered the following cable, mainly to use on my wife's Lupo as it occasionally has an engine management light.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271036790042

It looks compatible with the mk2 octavia as well, as anyone used/ had experience of this cable with vcds-lite on the octavia?

Regards

It won't do CAN, so it will be very limited in what it can do on a mkII. Basic OBDII is the limit with that cable.

Thanks, to be fair it is intended for the other car. Do you have a recommended cable that supports CAN?

Your advice is greatly appreciated, thanks

You need full fat VCDS with a proper cable from Ross Tech. Other cheap cables on ebay and the like will be knock offs.

I have the same and it allows just basic engine functions to be looked at. Of limited use.

Thanks chaps, I will look to spend out on a proper Ross tech cable at some point then.
