Things Maybe Getting Back To Normal.....

Featured Replies

Well I have been v quiet of late, mainly due to the consistent problems with the black beast.

I have had a stack of really annoying problems/faults with the car running like a real pig.

Well it seems that they can be fairly and squarely (so far...pray ...pray) put down to the fact that my car has been running de-cat up until now. This it seems has been responsible for a huge list of running faults. I have never been able to turn the engine light off and the car was running terribly.

So in a last ditch attempt after trying every other thing, I asked Mike at I.P. to put on a high flow cat.

So far (hope, pray beg etc etc) it seems to have cured the car's running problems. I guess at long last the two lambda sensores where the cat now is are actually sensing that there is something there.

We'll wait and see but so far so good and as always a huge thanks to Mike and Des for their help. :D:thumbup:

Good to hear Andre  And nice to hear from you too :)

:alien: It's the only smilie with something crossed.

Hmm, you could turn it back up know. :D

We'll see how things pan out......I am not going to speak too soon....tempting fate Des...we've been there before haven't we!!!

There was no cat prior to that?? I have been warned NOT to mess with the cat, it really messes up the car.

Well from my recent experience having a decat car causes untold problems :thumbdwn: I guess the advice you have been given is correct.

Basically no cat seems to tell the sensors on the car that all is not well and it tries to compensate for things that aren't there but doesn't do much of a job of it.

This made my car drive like a dog and since the cat has been put on, things appear to be far better.

I also hear on the grapevine that certain well known tuners are refusing to touch decatted cars due to the above problems. I just wish I had known earlier, both from a cost and hassle point of view.

Ah well...the joys of owning a modified car :(

Doesn't the member for Chaythum East have a decat also? :rubchin:

Glad your car is running better Andre. And Happy Birthday :D

Aye, Happy Birthday and welcome back :balloons:

Now what about the next funky mega-meet supreme? :P

Dave all I can say is this:

1. You have been lucky and fair play.

2. My car is far higher mileage than yours (may have an effect)

3. We'll see what happens with mine now cat is on!!

I trust the new improved recipe is producing plenty of smiles!!

Nice one Andre, don't suppose you are venturing anywhere near Bruntingthorpe in the middle of June?

Lee

Good to hear it Andre mate, and have a happy birthday.

Lee - Being out of touch, what is happening at Brunters? Might pop along! As long as what happened last time doesn't happen this time...blown turbo about a week later...not Brunters related but susperstition reigns supreme..

I'll be bringing the sun block this time though!! Eh Nick!!
