What can people recommend?

Gone are my days of £4k+ Installs! I just want something just abit better than the standard and to be able to get rid of the 6x9s the car came with.

My thoughts was Alpine unit, lower range one as it doesnt need to run nasa, always used them bar my nacamitchi(out of budget now). Any other i should look at tho?

I dont know what components to go for tho? Or uprated rears?

Im still un decided if i will stick a sub and amp in yet, but i kinda know what i would go for if i did.

Hi buddy install is the best part of and car like you say I'd definetly go for an alpine head unit for the simple reason they hardly ever break down I've got 3 at the moment and the only reason I've changed is because I upgraded

Yeah a few years ago i would have gone to town on it as i did in previous cars, but i just dont feel the need for it anymore. I may buy a roll of dynamat to do behind the speakers, but im not planning anything else bar whilst the cards are off taping anything down etc that may rattle etc. Its a pig of a job, remember doing the whole of my corsa head to toe and wasnt fun! So many cut fingers!

Ah yeah forgot to ask about the depth as have read that they need to be shallow, may pop the door card off and have a look at whats going on, if i have to make some pods tho im not to fussed.

tbh I'd avoid InPhase - used to be called Maystar

Look at 2nd amps on ebay - you can pickup high end stuff for peanuts ( normally 2 channel amps are better value/$ 2nd than 4+ channel kit )

Headunits too, some good bargans to be had off ebay

Put most of your $ into the speakers

FocalPoint speakers are a good bet

I did wonder where in phase had popped up from, its really not going to be run flat out of ever anywhere near it to be honest.

Have looked at focals as i know they are good.

Budget wise, well im not sure just yet. Ive got to get the cambelt and full service and tax done at the end of the month so it depends what i have left.

I was just trying to get a reasonable bit of kit for a fairly cheap budget. I dont want cheap crap in it but it really doesnt need to be high end stuff as it wont get used to capacity.

I really cant decide on the best route right now, i know if i up the budget i really dont think i will get the use out of it and will regret spunking the cash!

Yeah thats the ones , they do 6.5s and 5.25 for rears

And i think kenwood do a dab for a ton ish if any good for u bud

To be honest at the price they are worth a punt to run off a headunit for now to see how it sounds. i know it wont be great but can see it being enough for me.

Read mixed reviews about DAB units and if they are worth it or not? Im gonna get a new aerial unit as apparently they let water in and suffer, so dont know if i need one or not. Halfrauds had some pretty good deals on some DAB units the other day.

Very cheap little set up and i know that it is going to be nothing compared to what i would like BUT for the money its worth a punt i reckon! Would be able to sell it on for a small lose i think if it doesnt live up to it!

12s were the best ive had, not had 10s or 15s but have heard them. 12s are a perfect all rounder for punch and lows. Would love to do another full on install but the house tends to take over project wise these days!

Yeah agree its boring, but when i thought about running those speakers no amps or subs then what's the point in spending more on a unit, i cant see what i would gain from it tbh!

Wouldn't mind a double din but do like the cubby hole as well!

That unit has no phone control

The only way you'd get it to work with the phone is via the mini-jack

this means you'd have to control track selection etc via the phone itself

i used to run this back in the day KDC-W9537U google it was awesome

Ah well stubby usb it is then, tbh with a 4.5mile commute will be few journeys i need anything other than a cd or radio!
