Headunit and speaker recommendations

Featured Replies

Saves your phone battery ;)

I've got a load of Alpine amps tucked away in the garage I'd let go dead cheap. There's a four channel, a two channel, and a huge 2 channel/bridgable monoblock. They're not small though, and they're scruffy. But they do the job well.

thanks for the offer mate but im decided now and gonna give the cheap option a punt for now!

Can anyone confirm the standard speaker sizes please?

I'm a bit of an innocent when comes to audio amps for cars, so could someone help to explain the various benefits?

I've bought a better head unit but still have standard speakers.

Car is an '03 Octy estate 1.9tdi.

I'm medically retired so operating under "limited budgets".

6.5" components for the fronts (mounting depth restricted to about 62mm or so)

5.25" components for the rear doors (hatchback only - not sure about the maximum mounting depth of these since I have an Estate)

4X6" for the Estate rear speakers. Components not recommended.

Certain 4X6's don't fit so well. I can highly recommend against trying to fit any of the current Rockford Fosgate offerings...

Inbuilt amps have huge limits. More power on tap results in better speaker control, tighter bottom end etc. You'll find that even crappy speakers can go a little bit louder with a decent amplifier.

However, there is always compromise with a 12V power supply

Thanks for that.

So I'm assuming your 2-way & 4-way comments relate to the number of door speakers?

What about the woofer?
