Courtesy car - Fabia 1.2 Estate

Featured Replies

Just dropped my Fab vRS in for first service and I thought I was going to get a Fabia Sport courtesy car (which would have been interesting) but no, a silver 1.2 12v Ambiente ESTATE!

Actually, despite my initial impression which was an overriding one of being perched ON top the driver's seat, I came home with a huge grin on my face. I miss the 3 cylinder noise from my old Polo. It's not what you could call fast (nippy perhaps), but it's fun. I was caught out a few times by the total lack of engine braking compared to the vRS though.

Excellent load bay; wish the hatch had the same compartments in the rear wings and the underfloor space next to the spare looks really useful too.

I'd always thought small estates were a bit pointless; too small to be really any more useful than a decent hatchback, but I take that all back now.

Wife runs around in a 1.2 Silverline Estate. Excellent town car, never let's her down.

That's an interesting point as I always thought the 1.9 TDI lacked usable engine braking as from high revs it brakes, but then reach 2.5k and it gives up completely. Agree with your points about the high-driving position though - I did discover the height adjuster was also up too which didn't help, but not a bad little car! :D

I think it's more that the seat lacks the side bolsters that I've got used to in the vRS. Once I'd got used to it after a few miles it didn't seem so bad, especially after some adjustment of the steering wheel position.

Certainly much nicer than the competition (which amounts to the 206 SW I guess...). But then as we all know the Fabia is nicer than the 206 throughout the range, eh? Roll on a Fabia CC!

It's not a bad car - and a modern 1.2 compared to what used to be modern 5-10 years ago has a LOT more going for it.

For the time being the Furby vRS is quite nice - may have to upgrade to a bigger car at some point when little sprogs come along, but for now, keeping it ;)
