Side steps / running boards fitted

Hello from the colonies. While you have all been sleeping I have fitted my new side steps which I ordered through Aliexpress. They seem solid and as described, No instructions but easy enough to fit - just fiddly really. Took about an hour and a half for the first side and about an hour for the second side. No drilling. No need to remove or cut into the plastic under trays. Fitted with the mud guards in place.  No need to jack the car up - just a lot of crawling around - thank heavens for garage carpet

So we will see but very pleased at this stage. Note in the packing that " If you are not happy we will service you until you are completely satisfied" - can't ask for better than that !!

This stylish modification may also assist with preventing or reducing the mud ingress to the rear doors passed the rubber seals,  that has been reported by other owners. I personaly am very interested as they look to tidy up what I see is an unfinished area on the underside of the car that can be seen when you sit outside the vehicle... Thanks.

Oh I've posted the link if anyone else is interested... https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32858020634.html?trace=wwwdetail2mobilesitedetail&productId=32858020634&productSubject=New-Arrival-running-board-side-step-side-bar-foot-bar-Pedal-for-SKODA-KAROQ-2017-2018&spm=2114.search0104.8.21.eb272c4aAn2zWg&priceBeautifyAB=0

do you have any images from where/how they mount?

All eight mounts ( four each side are the same ). Remove the rubber bungs ( pictured) on the chassis under the door sills, insert the T-bar bolts and attach. the bar fits over the ridge and sits against the chassis. The two bolts to the left of the photo are holding on the side step. Seems all solid but I am not a panel beater or mechanic, just a home (car) handyman.

The mountings supplied are different to the ones pictured in the advert but all eight are the same. Hope this makes sense.

Thats it. There is a rubber strip that sits nicely against the chassis just under the door sill seal. Looks neat and tidy. Havent personally noted the rear door dirt problem but we dont have snow/ slush etc where we live and have only driven a couple of hundred kilometres.

It's a shame Skoda didn't make the genuine running boards from the Kodiaq for the Karoq.

Their fitment on the Kodiaq is very clean...
