Buying help please

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've come across from the octy dark side for a bit of info if possible.

My sister is looking for a cheap runaround around the 2k mark and I'm trying to sway here towards the fabia as I'm a great fan on Skoda, just feel they are miles better than you're average cords/fiesta. What I really need help with is possible issues on cars around this price/ age? I know a fair bit about motors and don't expect a gleaming car for 2k but want something trouble free as the last two corsas have gone back to the seller with a list of faults running into hundreds! Looking for, probably a 1.2 petrol, seen a few with around 50-60k miles on which don't seem to bad, anyone know what is Likely to go wrong around this age/ mileage as I don't want to help her buy another duffer, I think that would finish her off poor sod. Any help would be great, thankyou

Have a look at the SDIs as well. Ultra reliable, they dont use PD injectors they have an old school pump, and no turbo. Because they are not fashionable they are cheaper that the TDIs by a long way.

Otherwise check:

All doors open and close with the central locking

Rear boot release works

Rear washer doesn't leak, you will see water coming out into the boot or out under passenger side front wheel arch.

Rear reverse light works (only £10 to fix)

Heating isn't stuck on / off
