New Skoda Superb owner fae Scotland

Featured Replies

Hello folks,

Just bought a newish Superb Lauren and Klement 170 DSG estate. First day of ownership gives me good indication that I have done the right thing, especially as having been in a new Audi A6 the day before and seeing what it didn't have compared to the Skoda.

I know Audi A6's, especially the new shape, are sleeker and more prestigeous, but I like the 'undestated cool' of my new car. I even like the metallic chocolate brown colour, even though quite a few people smirked when I told them the colour. That was before they had seen it and been in it though!

Just traded in my five year old 2.0 TDI Sport Passat estate. It shows its basic model(ness) and it feels like I have jumped up three levels in standards. Although it has been a good reliable car for the last 95,000 miles.

Just one wee niggle on the Skoda though. Under the bonnet the engine looks exactly the same to my 57 plate Passat. So the question is...Has Skoda basically put the VW 'hand me down' engine in the Skoda, even though the Skoda is a 12 plate? I assume that because new Passats can do much better MPG that it is a more advanced engine.

All in all I am initially pleased with my decision. My wife is dissapointed that the Audi A6 isn't in our forecourt, but she isn't driving it and she is starting to undestand why I decided on the Skoda.

I may be bothering you all with a few questions pretty soon and some of them might be stupid, so brace yerselves.

Raymond.

Aye, it's certainly doesn't make the same noise as my last car. Can hardly tell it is a diesel.

Shifts too.

I am loving this car all the more I learn about it.

Guys at work who have BMW's have commented on how smart it looks.

It's all good.

Welcome from another Raymond from Scotland.

I'm still waiting for my Superb which is due to be built next week. Like you I considered an A6 but when comparing the two I'd have had to have spent a serious amount more dosh to get anything like the toys my motor will have and buying new was just out of the question.

I really hope you enjoy your Superb - I know I can't wait for mine.

Ray
