fitted my driver / passenger underset boxes today in my monte easy peasy

Featured Replies

hi had a lazy day today so deciced to fit the under seat storage boxes in my monte it was so easy slide the seat fully foreward & remove the two star bolts located in the channels ( T50 star bit ) then slide the seat as far backward as possible and remove the two bolts then simply lean the seat backwards dont worry there is a locating pin to guide the seat back into position and the seat WILL NOT COLLAPSE as reported on this site in a earlier post there is NO NEED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY OR ISSOLATE THE CONNECTORS FOR THE HEATED SEATS OR AIR BAGS as the cables have a good length on them then simply remove three small screws and remove the panel fitted replace with box replace the three screws with longer self tappers bobs your uncle box fitted position seat back into locating pin and replace said bolts (be carefull the bolts used are of poor quality use threadlock and do not over tighten the heads are easily chewed up if over zealous (i chewed one up but replaced with one i found in the garage ) you have been warned total time both side boxes fitted less than 1 hour not bad for near 63yr old final result very impressed although small well worth the effort total cost about £16

Can you get these for the VRS as well? Would be handy for the odd cd etc.

they will fit he vrs.

Thank you apmaman. :hi:

they will fit he vrs.

How about the Roomster?

I would imagine so as the front seats are all pretty much the same throughout the fabia's

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try, already have one under the passenger seat.

Make sure you use the right tool for the seat bolts. I started using a Torx bit and chewed one up, got a proper spline bit and had no issues.

Hi Ken. Did mine yesterday, just saw your post tonite. Can recomend this job as its easy. Did exactly as you stated.

Plus I fitted the roof sunglasses holder drop down flap too.

Not bad for a 65 year old. LOL.

Do agree the boxes are a little on the small side but still worth the dosh.

Cheers Ken.

Where do you get the tool from T50 spline thank you

Found the tool for the job ( M 10 spline ) you can get 2 for £3 off EBAY

Interesting. I have these boxes on my car (come as standard in Oz), and I can honestly say I've never put anything in them. Given there are an armrest "box", two gloveboxes, cupholders, sunglass holders, door bins... how many places do people need to hold stuff that will rattle? :wonder:

You cant have enough space...

I fitted them to my Monte & jolly useful they are.

I put my Sat nav stuff in them plus spare charger leads for mobile, hand wipes, spare tooth brush, flannel, towel, sun hat, slippers, combe, razor, hair gel, Lynx, plasters, sun cream, ...

I agree with OzFabia, I had two under seat trays in my previous Polo SE and never used them, nor the glove box or door pockets for that matter. Personally, I like my cars clutter free with no squeaks or rattles, but each to their own of course. My wife on the other hand, keeps her car like a bl00dy mobile rubbish tip, shame on her!

I've got underseat boxes and Ive never used the one under the drivers seat!! I dont like clutter either! Keep good old Ordnance Survey Maps in passenger box.
