vrs or monte carlo

dunno, never top it up ;) lol.... I would assume you do it then so you can read accuratly :)

so having read that page they tell you to get it to normal temperature and then turn off and wait a few minutes (as you said 5 should probably do it) then measure. I assume I've understood that right, have to say thats an 'interesting' way of having you check your oil.

Do you top it up then or wait until its cold?

Not actually unusual. Wife's Rav4 tells you to do it the same way.

I top it up there and then. Wouldn't think adding cold oil to the system is going to cause any missreading errors.

I would just take care that you do not overfill.

You really should be OK in not letting it go too low.

The dipstick on the vRS that has a 3.6 litre capacity is the same as on other models that take 3.9 litres.

(i have always been going to do a 'check the VAG Dipsticks', you just always trust that Skoda supply the correct ones, The hot checking seems crazy to me.)

Just check to see that the Servicing person never overfilled.

Did the checking of the refill after changing the filter cold and never used only 3.6 litres.
