Head Up Display

Featured Replies

finally fitted my head up display

What's with the big rectangle? Is it a reflection or can you see that when driving?

How do you go about fitting one of those? Price?

Is there a guide?

Blimey, fair play but that's REALLY distracting!

Okay looks cool but why do you want glowing numbers right in your field of view, is that even legal?

it was only done on my iphone ii will try and get a better one for you - the numbers are really sharp and it is not distracting as you do not need to take your eyes off the road by looking down at your speed

It is a close up - I know it looks like a giant reflection but the size is only about 3 incnes in the corner

it plugs straight into the obd2 port

a mate at the skodaclub here also done something similar

Gadget: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7

Aplication: Navier HUD (heads-up display)

Loads of cars have HUD's, so I guess it's legal.

New Octy its an option isn't it?

Just a phone app isn't it which shows an inverted image so its the right way round when on your screen? There's one for showing where speed cameras are - used it a few years back...

this isn't a phone app - it is an actual device which plugs into your OBD port under your dash

Yes they are legal, as some BMW's have had them as options for the last couple of years, & the military have been using them for at least 10 years.

I would love to have this type of display in my octy as it means you dont take your eyes off the road to check speed etc which is probably far safer given the increase in cars & irresponsible drivers on the road.

The Camaro that I hired last year had HUD,absolutely brilliant and in my opinion very safe, also gave other information such as radio station etc.

Agreed. But, as with being able to reply to texts on MaxiDot, some eejit will find a way to get AngryBirds on the HUD at some point.

Seen it on some Audis too.
