Air con pressure switch

Featured Replies

Can anyone confirm that what this manual says just before half way down is true?

It states that you can remove the air con pressure switch without having to drain the aircon.

My switch is knackered so it needs replacing. Just pondering am I going to get a surprise or not?

Its the one on the condensor unit.

Yeah it's on a shrader valve so just unscrews.

What makes you think it's faulty.

Hi thanks for the reply.

The air con fan is running flat out (and has been for a couple of months) as soon as the igntion key is in. On the very odd occasion the fan may stop running or stop start stop start and then just stay on flat out. But it is always flat out.

Having changed both temperature sensors, no change, read numerous passat web pages, I looked at the relays which all look fine inside, and then studdied the circuit diagram. The pressure sensor looked like the next thing that was keeping it on. So I took the bumper off this weekend and pulled the socket/ plug off the sensor. Fan stopped like I thought it would.

I then linked the two terminals which switched the fan to run slowly - which it should.

I then linked the other two terminals and the fan ran full speed - which it should.

So I take it the sensor is telling the system to run the fan at full speed. and is not functioning correctly. I have VAG com'ed the car and it doesn't say there is a fault.

Any thoughts would be appreciated - part is on order.
