Condensation how to fix

Featured Replies

I recently bought a second hand skoda fabia as a town run around and am very pleased with it. It does however suffer from what seems to be a common problem, condensation. I had an inspection before buying and it reported all the door seals are fine. The carpets are dry too. So I imagine it is the other problem which seems to cause this - broken plastic door membrane. Is this something which requires a specialist dealership to to fix. How much should it cost?

Mk1 Fabias don't have a plastic door membrane, they have a so-called 'ancillaries carrier' - which is stamped sheet metal - sealed to the door inner surface with some flimsy foam. Read all about the problems with this arrangement here: http://www.briskoda....bia-door-leaks/ (you may need more than 5 minutes  ) .

Fairly easy fix, and there is a quick and dirty 'curtains' approach (for the rear doors, which seem to be the most susceptible) which is very effective until a convenient opportunity to fix it properly arises. Details and pictures and even a youtube video in the linked thread. Good luck.

Try the pollen filter, I replace ours regularly as it caused ours to condensate when even marginally dirty
