08 2.0 PD TDI - juttery/ slutters under hard acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone else has had similar issues or might have an idea what the issue is.

The car runs fine under normal acceleration and idles cleanly, but if you put the boot down its acceleration seems juddery until you change gear. It still accelerates on swiftly but its a very noticeable judder under foot and nearly feels like it might cut out (but i hasn't yet and hopefully its doesn't).

Any ideas? and thanks in advance

Fuel filter possibly or you EGR might need a clean or even the air filter.

Cheers.

fuel filter has been done. Would these only cause symptons under heavy acceleration or is it highly variable?

Replace the boost hose seal on the inlet manifold, had the same problem for months, which got worse and worse, tried fuel filter didnt help.

Cleaned egr valve out, which involved removing boost hose rubber seal and the problem went away for a week then returned worse than ever.

Replaced boost hose seal, and car has been perfect ever since.

Sounds to me like your DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) is on its way out.

It is a common issue, especially on the PD170 in the vRS.

The DMF is under the most load when accelerating at low RPM in a high gear. A failing DMF will judder.

Do a search for DMF or SMF to see plenty of similar complaints.
