Just bought a Fabia VRS off a member on here. He is a close mate and the car is immaculate but 13miles down the road the car decides it dost want me to select 1st or reverse. If I get it in one of them it won't let me take it out. This only happens when the car is warm. I had a mate who works for vw. Just thought ad ask for any advice ad see if any one has had this issue before. All other gears are fine. It's a 55 plate Fabia VRS with 78 k on. Love this car and am gutted.

Could it be something as simple as worn linkages?

It's fine when cold and engine off so am not sure.

im sure i watched a video on youtube of someone re-setting the gear cables into the box, only takes about 10 mins and if i were you i would try that first lol

you may have to remove the battery and box on a vrs unless you have small hands

you should be able to manage it using those 2 ...

i found i had to take the battery out to get to the locking pin on the side of the box
