lease as previous owner

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Thinking about getting a vrs, Specs:

2011

12500 miles

Petrol

Black

Manual, no dsg

Its on for 13.5k. The price seems OK to me?

The previous owner was a leasing company though. Test drive next week, anything I should look out for in particular?

TIA for any suggestions.

Low mileage for a company lease car.

Could it have been a hire car?

I think it was short term leasing in Germany. There was consistent scratching on the drivers door. Looked like the owner wore rings and that scratched the plastics. That was the only wear I could see, alloys mint.

Its 18 months old, late reg in 2011. Would leasing/rental put anyone off?

I only ever buy ex lease cars now as they generally get a lot of money thrown at them, at least the ones I've had have done. I wouldn't touch a ex rental with a barge pole though, or police or other pool car.

That post makes no sense to me what so ever, lease car thrashed, Rental thrashed, police car thrashed and abused. And pool cars, thrashed, abused, no one dented it. They all get money spent on them some more than others, but that will only be when repairs need to be done. It all depends on who has been driving them and not how they are paid for.

My R was a lease car and it was faultless when I bought it.

I had an ex lease Astra from 14k miles. Never put a foot wrong till 120k

Good to know, cheers for the thoughts.

Not being funny but alot of privately bought cars get thrashed/treated badly too.

Whoever ends up with my old 59 plate MK6 Golf GT company car will have bought a corker. Yes I drove it pretty hard for nearly 3 years 50k miles but it was v tidy, cleaned regularly and was maintained with no expense spared; warranty work was carried out on the button, Full VW history and had a new AC compressor, rear discs and pads, windscreen and four new Michelin PS3's before it was sold to the auction. I think a looked after company/lease car is possibly one of the best 2nd hand options nowadays.

My old Candy White, same reg with DSG, bluetooth, heated seats, auto lights, rear parking is on at a dealer to me, 7K miles, only a little bit more than that.

By that I meant that I prefer to buy cars that are on the market only because the 3 year lease has ended and the keeper wants a brand new one. These cars also have enforced services and other such stuff. Yes, so do rentals and police, but they get thrashed with nearly no consequence. A lease car should be generally returned in a decent shape.

I find it hard to believe when people sell a car and say 'yeah, it's a great car, no problems, uses little fuel, runs perfectly, flew through the mot without issues.' I always like to ask, so why on earth are you selling it?

My Octy was an ex lease car. It had just had the cambelt and water pump done when I bought it. Not had anything major go wrong apart from the abs pump.
