2004 octavia mk2 fault codes

Featured Replies

Hi i have got a 2004 octavia mk2 & my airbag light has come on, i have put a code reader on the car (u281) but the codes the reader has given are not in my book i was wondering if anyone can tell me what they are please, codes are 04770 from engine Dtc check & codes 04805 & 01221 from SRS Dtc check thanks. :S

I've no idea what those codes mean. I'm assuming your code reader is a generic OBD reader, in which case you can only read the Engine ECU, and it will be of limited value to diagnose faults.

You really need to get a VCDS scan to get any meaningful information. However a lot of airbag light activations on the Octavia are caused by poor connections on the plugs under the seats. You can unplug and reconnect them in an effort to restore the connection. But AFAIK you still need to clear the fault codes with VCDS to put out the light.

Yeah that's right, you do.

Cut out the yellow plug under the drivers seat and solder the wires together instead. For some reason the plugs can seem fine, and even wiggling them about won't make the light come on when you try to check them, but somehow they do cause the fault. I dismissed the plug when I had the light coming on because it looked fine and I couldn't cause the light to come back on after a reset. In the end I got rid of the plug, and no more light.

Whereabouts in Derbyshire are you, If you close to me (just off Jct 25 of the M1) I could scan your car with VCDS and confirm what the issue is.

I'm in Breaston, so not far at all. If you want to come round to mine at some point I could scan the car for you.

I would suspect the wiring under the drivers seat. Mine had the repair done by the dealer as it had the airbag light on when they got the car as a part ex.
