Question About An MOT Faliure Issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had my car serviced at VW Rescue in Wombourne and also MOT'd.

The MOT failed due to a problem with the the high beam on the passenger side being defective. It came up last week on the maxidot and when VW Rescue did a diagnostics report it came up with the following:

Subsystem 2 - part no: IK0 955 559 AE Labels: IK0 955 559 AF CLB

Components RLS220606 014 1201

Coding 00471077

Shop # WSC 23039

1 fault found

01495 bulb for high beams left (M30)

010 - open or short to plus

Freeze Frame:

Fault statud 01101010

Fault priority 3

Fault frequency 1

Reset counter 5

Mileage 85376 km

Time indication 0

Freeze frame:

ON

Voltage 11.60v

OFF

OFF

OFF

They have tried a number of bulbs but still didn;t work, yet the bulbs used worked in the drivers side light cluster. They then conncected the passenger side cluster upto the drivers side and all worked fine, but they cannot get the high beam to work.

I have asked skoda Stourbridge if I can go down to talk to somebody about this with the diag report I have, but they just want me to spend more money on having another diag report first. Is this going to help me or will I get the exact same info again?

And why can't VW Rescue get it to work?

Seem to be totally stuck!

Are you saying that everything worked on NS light unit (passenger side) when it was plugged in on the OS (drivers side) cable ?

If that is the case it would suggest that you have a problem with the loom that feeds the NS light.

Sounds like a basic auto-electrician issue to me - trace back the loom until you find the fault, could be cable or an issue with the CEM (central electrics module).

I take it that this is a halogen equipped car i.e. you don't have factory fit Xenon lights ?

Hi Paul,

Yes, that is what I am saying mate.

I have it booked in at Skoda Stourbridge tomorrow and have to have the diagnostics check first, as they won't take another garages word for anything, which is a pain.

Just hope they can sort it, if not, i'm screwed.

Cheers

Wayne

I'd second what Paul says, with one additional note. If the car has separate fuses for each light, try replacing the LH dip fuse, just in case it's a load blow (fuse looks good, but can't carry current).
