BLT EGR DELETE ROUGH GUIDE

Featured Replies

fitted mines today its a pain in the arse but isnt all that hard to be honest

STEP 1

to get the egr off there is 3 bolts on the asv bit at the left before egr

2yzigz8.jpg

now you need to use allen keys undo the 2 bolts you see on the ant shudder valve once you have done that unplug the antishudder valve awkward to get to but once its off you can get to the other bolt which is to the right of this plug

to make it easier to get to this bolt push the antishudder valve up easier to get to..

now under the ant shudder valve you have the egr cooler there is to allen key head bolts holding this on undo these..

now you can get to 2 more bolts now these are an arse to get off 1 holds the egr valve on underneath same direction and area that you took the bolt off from the asv plug side the other points toward the turbo this is a pain ..

what i did was undone the 10mm nut that holds the airfilter pipe to the manifold and used vise grips to get the plastic pipe out the way

34yramx.jpg

easiest way to get the bolt out that faces the turbo is from the left hand side looking at engine push the airfilter pipe back put allen key down facing the vacuum box undo it then take it out slide your hand under the airfilterpipe and you can undo from there with the allen key this will have your anti shudder valve off to clean it will be manky..

now you will see the remaining bolts holding egr on undo them and throw it to fook ...

now take your new delete pipe what i found with this they give you a blanking plate and i re used the old gasket for the egr cooler it doesnt come with any bolts to fit the blanking plate to the egr cooler so i used 2 bolts and nuts

...15gtbg7.jpg

next once the blanking plate is on get your delete pipe and gasket .. gasket goes to the manifold side use the bolts supplied put on the 2 bolts closest to front off engine do not use the other small bolt on the top back hole tighten these to bolts up ..

now get your asv valve use the massive long bolt you took off originally and this goes through the anti shudder valve into that top back hole off the egr delete use the other to bolts you took off one for where you will plug the asv back in and one nearest to you then plug asv plug back in and connect your boost hose back up viola you are done sorry for lack off pics i was doing this and doing an engine conversion to my bros corsa lol sounds harder than it is but they to bolts under asv are the hardest once there off its straight forward cheers

Have you left that pipe on that goes to the manifold then, the one you can see in your last stripped pic?

yea egr cooler just blanked it off with the blanking plate going to take it off at weekend but had my bros car to do aswell so left it on

That corrugated pipe will split!

You need to take the egr cooler right off. And the blanking plate goes on the manifold! You also need a replacement coolant pipe iirc. Darkside do one

oh right was guna say it shouldnt be left on as they are known to let go, but if you plan to remove it and blank at the manifold its all good.

where does the coolant pipe go to once removed btw??

What about the vacuum tube and the fault light that will show on the dashboard?

vacuum pipe either plug it up or leave as i have and i dont get an engine management light either

Reidy22, which engine code is your vRS?

Incidentally, it is not a cooler pipe. The exhaust gases go through this pipe when the egr valve opens.

his is a blt and it as an egr cooler, the asz engine is just a pipe thats why they have different set ups.

as above it is egr cooler and a blt engine

Why would that pipe spilt in this setup??

The corrugated pipe splits... Dont ask me why... Must be exhaust pressure as it has nowhere to go!

I did mine as the OP and the pipe split... Sounded like a ufo

Ave heard of them spliting but why exhaust pressure its coolant that runs through it i thought with having the pipe conected to it lol either way ill remove it when i can be bothered lol

No its exhaust gases from the exhaust manifold through to the egr

The gases pass through the cooler which circulates coolant ;)

What pipe should we replace it with? Size etc. Do you have a link.

I had the corrugated split on mine too.

Best to remove it completely

I removed the whole cooler on my BLT. One coolant pipe is removed, and the other i rotated 180 degrees and it fit fine to where the other used to go to. You'll lose quite a bit of coolant, so be prepared to fill the system with the correct G+/G++ coolant after.

You're asking a lot expecting a reply from seven years ago.

You can buy a double ended hose barb to join the pipes, just measure them and buy the right size.

Oh well if it was 7 years ago? Simply I have this issue now and this forum is to answer questions not to catch an attitude about it. Thanks for your answer.

Be polite, I gave you a good solution not attitude, this isn't soshul meedya so you won't get all the grinning and winking and reacharounds you might be used to.

Just facts and good advice, now jog on.
