Vibrations, Creaks and Rants!

So the creaks may be a common problem then? BMW had the same issue with the old 5 series, it took a long time and a lot of complaining before they released modified door seals, which cured the problem.

Same here and when the radio is turned down you can hear a slight whistle from the same window. Probably related.

Also, i've had the car 3 weeks now and the following faults have been noted:-

When you hold down the boot release button on the keyfob the boot pops but no longer fully meaning you either have to hold the button down again or open it manually using the button under the handle.

The offside heated wing mirror takes over 5 minutes to clear on a cold morning whereas the nearside one is usually clear in a few seconds. Very inconvenient as I need to use that mirror right away on my journey to work.

I'll hold off for another week or 2 before leaing it into the dealer just in case any other faults arise.

Well I've had my Octy just short of 11 months now and done 26.5K miles. Initially had groaning and moaning side from front left, but found leaving the wife at home solves this issue ;) but seriously get an occassional creak/crack but I think it is just the plastic warming up in the car when heater first on in the morning, soon goes away as Car reaches temperature.

Been very happy and impressed with my Octy, best car I've had to date, including numerous Fords, Honda, Mazada, Vauxhall, and a Rover

I'm not sure all these odds and ends of noise are one single fault, the same in all cars. Mine is hardly noticeable now.

I tried one more small dodge, put a dob of Castrol HMP grease inside the driver's doorlatch mechanism. Opened and closed the door a lot, removing surplus grease from the latch bar fitted to the pillar, until not much surplus in evidence 'cos I don't want it all over my Dior evening dress, do I. :)

So by then the grease had mostly gone down inside the mechanism. Had this idea that maybe the door was working up and down on the latch bar. Last few outings the noise seems to have practically gone, and when it is there it is only the first few minutes. Warm-up gets rid of it, as others have noticed for some of these faults. And, no, the grease hasn't b*ggered up the door mechanism!!

My dealer has just passed on some interesting information to me; Skoda have acknowledged an issue with the door seals and will be producing modified ones shortly. They are in the process of writing a technical bulletin for distribution. Fingers crossed!
