Which bike carrier is the best one to get?

I think most of their designs are fairly quick fitting now. Are the options for square bars vs oval (or aero) ones?

My opinion is that square ones will be a lot more practical, and by gripping the load more a bit safer too. Do you have to buy special fittings to mount anything to the oval ones? No doubt oval are quieter, but wind noise not usually too bad - and just take them off if ur not using them!

While I'm at it, a couple of plugs for Thule.....

1. When I got my current car (an Alfa 156 Sportwagon) four years ago, I had to contact them for assistance in picking the right bars - and mounting kits. Their customer support (in Bristol area I think) could not have been better - the Sportwagon had not been out long, but they phoned me and emailed me and sorted out what I needed. Of course, that was for a roof rail fitting, so I'm not as familiar with the roof mounting options.

2. Have had 3 or 4 sets of Thule bars - did a lot of canoeing a few years ago - and as far as I am concerned they are the only bar to consider. Lots of hammer - shifted canoes, sofas, wardrobes the lot - all with no probs!

And I think my Sportwagon bars will fit on the Octy estate rails too - so even better!
