Diesel fuel filter

Featured Replies

I've noticed that a number of posts say don't use a screwdriver in the slot to open the fuel filter as it can damage the housing.

Having checked the service book it says this s the way to do it.

So the question is.... How do you remove t without a screwdriver in the slot.

Also where do the seals go.

I just removed it by hand IIRC. Needed gloves of course.

As for mine, it just had the one seal/washer around the lid lip. I didnt have the olympic rings :)

Only took 10 mins, though I did spend plenty of time cleaning the inside.

Use the screwdriver (if needed) but just don't be hamfisted with it. Plenty of rags around that area to soak up any spilt diesel before it gets on engine parts.

I've used a screwdriver three times - not a problem. After all, how else could you get the top off.

One word of warning from the manual I do agree with - DO NOT use the screws to pull the top down on it's seal. I.e., push the top down then tighten the screws.

The seal on mine goes round the top of the lid and should be lubed with a little diesel so you can push it down easily.
