17"tyres

Featured Replies

have just put deposit on 17"alloys after upgrading my brakes. :) am looking at 3 options for tyres.1:goodyear gsd3 f1. 2:uniroyal rainsport. 3:avon zz3s.roughly all

I use uniroyal rainsports on my Fabia Vrs Good in the dry, Excellent in the wet, a little noisey

Run F1 GSD3s myself and like em. A bit noisey due to the directional tread.

Would also go for 225/45/17.....the 215 will give more of a speedo error, although it must be said the difference is very small.

Also 225 may well be cheaper due to it being a more popular size...not totally sure on this though.

I have just replaced the 2 rear tyres on my octi vrs with Yokohama AVS Sport. So far I have covered about 1000miles and the back doesn't seem to slide when thrown around anymore. They are quite expensive but I have been told by the mechanic he got over 15,000 miles out of a set on his 400+bhp escort cossie

Took me 12 miles to destroy a set of Uniroyal Rainsports, just as well they weren't mine :D

Do you fly Jumbo's.....That's about 6 landings

You mean that you can destroy a set of tyres in 1 lap of the ring    - I'm impressed :rofl:

I dare say ALL tyres should be out then.....I would Imagin that any tyre can be destroyed after one lap of the Ring!! :)

Nah, not the Ring, that is OK on tyres; OK I melted a set of P Zero Assymetricos in 1/2 a lap, but that was with 450+ bhp and some very hefty braking (do you know how quick water cooled 380mm AP six pots at the front and 350mm titanium 4 pots can stop a car??? ). The ones I wrecked were Paul's in one session at Anglesey :D

The Rainsports aren't bad and I would probably have them in preference to the ZZ

Never tried any of them, but I did have the Avon ZV1's on the Octy previously. I think they're the model before the ZZ3's?

Expensive, but they where good for my purposes. However, as they were on the rear, I can't comment too much on wear for driving the fronts.

I went through nearly three complete sets of tyres in 34,000 miles...........

Anyone who can nurse more than 10,000 out of set given the state of roads in this country and have a reasonable driving style - I take my hat off to you!

was talking 2 cobra at pallas meet he goes thru 3 sets a year so i suppose just depends on your driving style but i always thought more u pay better the tyre? may b not, will have 2 keep looking

Have you looked in reviews on here?

Well, our Elegance estate is past the 30,000 miles mark and I'm beginning to think about replacing the fronts, which are down to 3 mm. Pirelli P6000s, since you ask. The only problem with the Pirellis is that they seem to pick up an inordinate amount of road noise - great on the continent, but UK concrete is a pain in the ears. Any advice on which are the quietest 17" tyres for an Octavia?
