under pressure

hey,

just got a 'nilfisk c110 2.5 xtra' for my birthday to use on the car.

however, on playing with it on the path, I can strip the concrete back to its original light grey colour. is it safe for my cars paintwork?

I think you might have been using the nozzle which isn't meant to be used on cars. I would be wary of using that on my car too. There is a nozzle which has a little icon of a car on it, which is much gentler than the one which strips concrete back to clean. My Nilfisk also came with an angled nozzle designed to go inside the wheel arches and under the sills. Very handy.

As sward says there's a special nozzle for use on cars that has a wider, softer spray. I've also got the 90 degree angle nozzel he has too and it's very useful for cleaning the wheel arches and under the sills. Don't get the soft nozzle too close to the paintwork either. I'd recommend you get a proper snow foam lance and some snowfoam as that will get most of the crud off without touching your car so you can avoid the dreaded swirl marks

ok, thanks all. there is a karcher snow foam lance I can borrow. will it fit the nilfisk?

I suspect not but if you can borrow it, why not try and see? My Nilfisk came with a detergent bottle, which is pretty good for spraying snowfoam type detergents on your car. I use Meguiars Hyperwash.

No...you will need the Nilfisk fitment

The Karcher is quite different

You will not get any foam unless you use a Snow Foam lance with the Nilfisk fitment

I got one of the decent snowfoam lances for about 50 notes. a bit disappointed, was expecting torrents of foam but it was like soapy foamy water. still did the job, but was expecting to cover the car.

it didn't come with instructions, so it was trial and error.

about an inch of foam in the bottle, top up with water. shook a bit and connected up. is that right?

it still did a good job of cleaning though....

Is it like this?

If it is...Turn the knob fully to (-)..This controls the mix...You will then get foam

ONLY if using a dedicated Snow Foam of course

Which Snow Foam do you use?

was the knob at the top fully closed?

it needs to be fully closed then open just a touch i think to get good snow

EDIT: Beat me to it!

Sorry ...LOL

yes, its like that. I don't think I touched the top knob. not sure what foam it is, but it came with the lance and is snowfoam with wax in it. it is in the shed, I will look later...

I've a nilfisk c110 too and I was disappointed too with the foam. I got some CG no touch snow foam in the DW group buy. Much more impressed now, this was with an inch in a AB HD lance (will use a bit less next time)

You wont ever get any decent Foam from a pressure washer until you fit a Snow Foam lance to it
