Fuel filler flap

Featured Replies

I seem to recall someone on here (was it Johann?) had to have half his car dismantled in order to free a stuck filler flap. I have noticed in recent weeks that although mine opens easily, it is becoming porgressively more difficult to persuade it to stay shut after refuelling. Anyone else with this problem? I don't think it's worth doing anything about it at the moment, but it's certainly a minor nuisance.

Have you lubricated the locking mechanism lately? Seems to be another thing that gets overlooked, like door keyholes.

You realise this is just an invitation to bobdog right?

Vehicles are getting so trouble-free & hands-off these days that I, for one, have gotten real lazy. I put in a warranty claim on a motorbike because a push-to-open / push-to-close glovebox was sticking. With said motorbike originating from the land of pasta, I was still waiting for replacement part when I sold it privately 8 months later. Lo & behold, a squirt of GT85 fixed a problem I'd lived with for nigh on 12 months!!!

Come again? A glovebox on a motorbike?

I wish mine had one of those...what have I been missing out on all these years?! :giggle:

Mine filler cap had same problem. Lubricated it. Got it working again. As I work for the local Fire and Rescue Service, I can't leave anything to chance and replaced it. Main dealer job cost me £79.
