MOT time - Happy days...

Featured Replies

People may still mock the Skoda, my mates refer to it as the taxi, and mileage wise its getting that way, but the Octavia was built to last.

My 2005 54 plate PD140 turned 170k this morning ok n the way into work.

Stopped on the way home to get it mot'd. Passed no problem with no advisories !

No back handers required either.... :-)

Its been well serviced. Must be one of the few on fixed servicing that does 30k a year.

Still on the original clutch, DMF and turbo, so a few big bills expected at some point, but I'm happy today......

Nice one

From recent experience and advice it seems that fixed oil/filter every 10k is the best for longevity.

Mines half your miles but more frequent oil changes for me from now on.

That's impressive! Lots of people get big bills at 1/2 that milage

I'm a big fan of regular oil changes, having had bikes for years when the (fully sythetic) oil was changed every 3k I just couldn't get comfortable with 2 years 20k for an oil change, especially if it was deisel. One of my company vans was on the 2 yrs 20k milarchy and when it went in for it's service the oil was black and horrible. I can remember thinking I wouldn't buy this when it reached the end of it's lease, so that made me think were the variable/long service intervals just for the benefit of the 1st (business) owner who changed it at 3 years, leaving the subsequent ones paying for it in the long run

The car was main dealer serviced on long life up to 100k.

Then a great little specialist in the north east recommended using regular PD oil, half the price of longlife, just changed twice as often. He believes that regular pill changes help prolong turbo life and its generally good for the engine.

It'll be due its third timing belt change in a few months. First @ 60k, second @ 120k. I know its not sure at those intervals, but cheaper than major engine work.

170k lol catch yourself on it's a diesel Octavia, sure she is only just run in now! Sounds like your treating her right and getting the miles on the odo steadily should see 300K in no time. I personally think it seems that the older the Octavia's are the higher the build quality is.

^^++++
