F/l Octavia VRS looks like Maxidot but limited functions?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've just bought a 59 plate f/l Octavia VRS which looks like it has a Maxidot display but has limited functions. I can only access what appear to be the basic trip computer, fuel consumption etc. It doesn't show which door is open on the display or give me access to any "Set Up" functions.

Can anyone please tell me if this can be activated or it will it need a full Maxidot dash retrofit?

Thanks

Kev

If it doesn't show which door is open - them I'm afraid that isn't a Maxidot cluster - you would need to retro-fit one and have it coded to the car / keys.

As above. Might not be Maxidot. See here:

That image doesn't look right as I thought the pre-FL Octavias without Maxidot had that half LCD display but the FL Octavias without Maxidot had a full display that looks similar to Maxidot but doesn't have the functionality.

Well spotted! That is pre-FL.

This is the FL trip computer (non-maxidot):

why they don't fit maxidot as standard, it costs the same and the newer one even looks like a maxidot

I know it's mad... but then it would be one less item the L&K got as standard and they wouldn't be able to charge you for it as an option!

Thanks for the replies guys. Mine is exactly the same as the pic in Philje 123's post.

Looking closer at the one above, that first non-Maxidot picture looks like a FL as mine is a pre-FL and while it has the half LCD the design is a bit different of it and the dials so I assume that's a non-Maxidot FL from another country?

The first pics are pre FL MK2 dash photos. The FL vRS (unless specd with DSG) comes with the computer in the later photo; Maxidot has always been optional on a manual car unless factory nav was added at which point it came fitted.

As it happens the non maxidot computer is the same as the one fitted to most basic MK6 Golfs and some Polos fitted with a trip computer.

I'm pretty sure they aren't pre-FL as they have the dotted lines - this is my pre-FL non-maxidot dashboard which you can see is different to the one above:

Mine's an FL (59 plate) non-Maxidot and is white on black like Phil's second pic
