My engine management light just came on this morning when I started my car from cold. I plugged it in to the code reader at work and it came up with 'glow plug module' in the faults list. Has anyone had this before? I'm going to check the wiring at the weekend but just wondering if there was a specific place to check first before I check everything

Any other indications of a glow plug fault, like being slower to start, or whte smoke on a cold start?

Yes had this last week, garage said glowplug module #4, but he replaced them all for £90 including diagnostics

If they're black and sooty they're usually OK.

Its if they have a white deposit on them that they're knackered.

I took out a set which I thought were causing my slow start issue, fitted a new set of shiny NGK ones and after a few starts they were almost as sooty as the ones I removed.

And i never fixed my issue :(

I think PastyBoy posted up a thread with some duff GP's in it if you want to look.

Just to let you no the glow plug control module/relay is bolted to the right hand side of the battery with one t25 have had a few of them go down now but normaly is a glow plug, hope that helped.

Well the car has just had a new engine and turbo from Skoda about 3 weeks ago, but I think the original glow plugs were used so either there has been a wiring fault from the fitting of the new engine or they have finally given up (the old engine hydrauliced on its own oil). Ye the car is quite smokey on cold start and very shaky till it warms up. Il check the wiring and the plugs and see what I come up with

I get the same thing.

Shakes a tad like a misfire just mild. And a fair bit of white smoke.

Will look at the side of the battery tomoz too cheers.
