New member + very new Fabia VRS owner

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

After lots of research (mostly on Briskoda) I am now the owner of a 2006 Fabia VRS. Kind of mixed emotions really as I'm really sad to see my old Renault Megane (froggy) go after five and a half years of ownership. I bought the VRS from a local franchised Honda garage for £5600 and tbh found the whole experience quite awful, I'm pretty sure ill avoid doing this in the future at all cost!

Anyways thought I'd say Hi :)

Liam

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi and welcome.

Sorry to hear you didn't like the experience but do you like the car though?

Thanks,

Unfortunately I'm not having any luck with it atm. The squeak that I pointed out on the test drive and was assured would be fixed has returned with a vengeance, When I switched the headlights on one of the bulbs was gone and had to be replaced and on Sunday the day after I picked it up the engine warning light came on....

Because I bought the car while visiting my parents in Bedfordshire and I'm currently living in Wolverhampton I was told by the dealer to book it in to one of their 'group' dealerships here. I booked it in and when I turned up today the guy I spoke to didn't even know if they had the right diagnostics to test it!?

What a mess

I just bought my 06 plate fabia vrs 3 weeks ago and love it mate. Get emails and letters sent to the head of the franchise. Kick up mate till you get everything sorted. If you dont they will just brush it off.

Mick.

Sorry to hear you arent having the best of luck.

They are a truly good car. As Mick says just give them a hard time until they sort it. It shouldn't be like that I agree but I would get onto the dealer again that you purchased from initially and insist they deal with it. They should liaise with the other dealer really as it sounds to me like the other franchise is shirking responsibility based on them not selling the car. Not that that should matter of course.

Failing that try another franchise local to u (other than the one claiming to not have standard vag diagnostics) whilst emailing skoda uk. Group head office won't like finding out their franchises are bringing their name down and at least your getting another dealer attempt at rectifying the faults. You could mention you have written into skoda uk whilst going to the other dealer, they may see it as an opportunity to score points via your correspondence . I know if I was their after sales/service manager I d be using the opportunity that's for sure.

MarkC - vrs, It might be worth re reading where he got the car from - it was a Honda franchise.

I agree about bagdering them to sort out what the promised to do, by the sound of the dealer you might have a bit of a fight about the bulb, unless you tested them before picking it up & it was noticed.

I am not surprised they didnt have the correct diagnostics equipment as it would be Honda specific & they would have to take the car to a VAG Group garage to diagnose. ( i suspect from the treatment they would have just got the error deleted so the light went out ).

My suggestion - Persist in chasing the dealer & if necessary, letter to MD of group / dealership, in the mean time, pop over to fabia section & post for assistance. Post which dash light is on, & ask if anyone nearby has a vag-com to read the error, but dont remove the code, get the dealer to sort the problem as promised. The info gained from the vag-com code along with a bit of research will allow you to check out what youre told once they say its fixed ( useful back pocket info to verify if the dealer is BSing you).

Hope this helps

Ahh sorry mate. Well pointed out. Ye answers why they cant plug it in .

Just had an answer phone message from the garage saying "Skoda is done, pick it up tomorrow morning because we need our courtesy car back".

Now I'm worried they will have bodged it, can they really just delete the warning message without fixing anything? Would they have been able to fix it properly in a day?

*Oh and lfc958 it was bought from a Honda garage but is now inexplicably with a Ford garage... Aparently part of the same 'group'.
