Alloys in a terrible state - warranty?

Featured Replies

I bought my 2006 Octavia VRS from a main dealer in about May/June 2012 and as part of the 'prep' the dealer offered to do was fix some kerbed alloys.

Fast forward to now and despite the wheels having been off the car for the duration of winter (bought winter tyres this year and put them on some 16" steels) the condition of them is appalling. The refurb job basically is totally substandard and the paint has flaked off leaving the wheels looking like they've got leprosy!

I don't park near kerbs either at home or work, and the wheels are cleaned regularly without harsh chemical cleaners but basically 3 out of the 4 are in a total state. Now this wouldn't bother me TOO much but I'm considering parting with the car in the coming months.. has anyone been in a similar situation with a pre-owned car from Skoda and did you attempt to get the issue rectified under warranty? Or are they likely to tell me to jog on?

I expect they'll tell me "wear and tear" which is fair enough - but to be honest the paint started to come off within mere months of buying the car. I guess I should have done something about it then... :(

Thanks in advance.

If you are changing the car soon I wouldn't bother - car value won't be affected much by corrosion on 7 year old alloys.

I was just trying to get as many things done as possible to prevent people from picking fault on the car when (if!) they come to view it.. :(
