Had my car on the rolling road (stage 1) - can I up it?

Featured Replies

Power = (torque x RPM)/5252

So to archive 200 BHP at 4000rpm you need 263 ftlbs of torque.

If you had 263ftlbs at 2500rpm then you'll have 125bhp. If you had 300ftlbs you'll have 143bhp. 330ftlbs you'll have 157bhp.

Standard clutch/flywheel is rated to 280ftlbs.

Thanks Big Jase :)

Only thing is I don't think I could stand the SMF rattle :-/ it's chattery enuf as it is....

Can I not just buy a standard new clutch and be mechanically sympathetic? :) :)

Not a chance!

You will need a single mass flywheel for a darkside kit! The torque will be too much for a dual mass!

I run the said kit on a standard 84k mile old clutch and DMF and its currently holding well. You don't necessarily need a SMF kit unless you have a high torque map. I certainly won't be getting one when mine needs replacement because I cant stand the noise. Darkside have a number of uprated clutch kits that retain the DMF, failing that there's the Southbend 'silent' SMF kits.

I killed a sachs dmf after 20k on a 200bhp / 300lb/ft map!

They blow at standard power! Smf's are awesome!

I guess it's luck of the draw then :)

How much would a stock clutch and DMF cost versus an uprated one?

Saw this on eBay which looks promising (item 251146084423)

For an uprated sachs organic and dmf your talking around £800 if iirc!

Put a single mass in and its done!

They are members on here! They do 6 paddle & 8 paddle versions too. Some people say they are crap but some are running big power with no issues!

A 6 paddles SMF is what I will be going for if I need a clutch change at any point :)
