2000 Estate - Unable to open the cargo door - electrical problem?

Featured Replies

I have had this once before in very cold weather, but that fixed itself when the temperature went above freezing point. The cargo door (or should that be hatch door in English? A bit uncertain since I associate a hatch door with hatchbacks only) won't open. The weird part of it is that when I use that door to open the central locking all the locks in the front open and close as they should. But there is no sound at all in the rear lock. I'm not totally sure, but I believe there should be an electrical lock sound when it's done from that lock as well. Or maybe I don't remember correctly? It's my wife who drives that car, so I haven't really opened the cargo door for quite some time.

Is this a known problem, and does anybody know what I can do about it? Also is it possible to open the door by taking off the plastic door liner, or is that bolted on the side somewhere? I have tried to pry it open very carefully, but it feels stuck. Maybe I should just put some of my 95 kilos behind prying? :giggle:

Never mind, found out that I could get the door lining out, and it was the actuator.
