Audi A3 (2009) windows all dropped down overnight

Featured Replies

Thought it might be similar to a mk2 octy as its an Audi A3 S-Line 2.0 TDI CR170.

This morning all the windows had dropped right down (at some point overnight) - Is there a usual culprit for this happening? Water ingress somewhere perhaps, or does cold weather affect the convenience units?

Sitting on the keys was always the culprit for when my cars did it

Sitting on the keys is not the culprit in this case

Yeah common amoung VAG range not sure if they ever traced the real reason but there is a decent thread on here if you do a search

I always thought it was a dodgy switch in the drivers door.

I found that on my Octy 2, if you hold down the button on the dash that operates the central locking to unlock the car, it will take all the windows down the same as using the keyfob. Possibly something affecting that button?

Oooh. I'll have to try that one. Does it do that with the car locked though I wonder.

It unlocks at the same time

It unlocks at the same time

Even if locked with the remote?

On my old car (Seat Cordoba) if you locked someone in the car they literally couldn't get out as the button was disabled and all the lockes were deadlocked.

My BMW 118 did this one night - came out to 4" of snow inside!!!

I reckon it was a key fob sitting job in this case :wall:

Mine did this once a while ago,i put it down to me locking the car whilst carrying lots of stuff & keping my finger on the button to long, its never done it since, thankfully i went back outside not long after locking it & found all the windows down,i kept checking for days afterwards though.
