Handling question on 16s and 17s?

Featured Replies

So, Im running some lightweight 16x7s on 195 45 Avon ZV5's, steering response is great, agile, nimble, pick up in acceleration is amazing, soaks up bumps and pot holes well.

Theres this one little issue.. I guess because of it being so lightweight and high speed corners - if you meet a pot hole or uneven surface it gets a little twitchy, its like a delayed version of mild torque steer. I've tried adjusting tyre pressures, it does change the duration and amount of 'weightlessness' but its still there.

When I had 17x7 Spyders (205 40) I've never noticed this happen, perhaps being heavy and wider profile tyres. Is it really just a weight and tyre (profile/width) issue?

Does anyone have a set of 16s and 17s noticing this type of difference?

What ways can I cure this issue? Wider and lower profile tyres? Strut?

I have noticed this too slightly, the car is more agile on the 16's and picks up quicker, but feels much more stable on my 17x7.5 (215 40) wheels. The track is wider with the 17's on too, so that will help (a little). I'd like to move to some lightweight 17's at some point, but will have to find a set that I really like.
