Air Filter Change 2.0l Diesel

Featured Replies

I’m going to change my air cleaner as it will become due (at 60,000 miles nominally) between variable services. Is it a straight forward unscrew fasteners, vacuum clean and replace job or are there any fragile electrics/tricky slot –in tabs to watch out for?

Ordered a Mahle filter and will replace ASAP.

Nothing tricky.

Just as you describe really.

Oh bother. Dropped my one and only T25 torx bit used to undo the bits . Thud, rattle, no way to remove the undertray so can find its own way out.. Screwfix here I come tomorrow.

Thought I was doing quite well until then despite the unexpected wiring loom and pipework going into the air filter cover.

My 2.0 Tdi (PD 140 - so yours may be different) have 7 or 8 screws to undo, lift cover off, change filter, screw cover on, job done.

No wires, pipes, etc to confuse.

If yours is a CR or Vrs, then it may well be different. So apologies if it is.

Id change the air filter every oil service or 10,000 miles to keep the engine running at its peak, For what they cost there is no reason not too.

Mine is a PD140 as well but has an L shaped housing with the above sensors incorporated. Easy enough to lift up and insert the new filter.

Done now.

From another thread I realise the sensor is the 'MAF'. Definitely is part of the air filter cover assembly. Not sure what the little pipe does.

First air filter change in almost 56000 miles. No noticeable difference in mpg or performance though.

Yes, no need to change anywhere near 10k intervals on a diesel. Pointless. Just clean out the leaves every so often.

I do mine every 20K or yearly as i think Skoda,s recommendation is too long.
