  • No. Lots of the Skoda Dealership Demonstrators full spec options, registered first on 29/7/2010 or 1/08/2010 ish had engine rebuilt at around 5,000 miles and have been perfect ever since. (i have 2

  • Great car for the money, v quick and the engine and gearbox are a peach. For me the handling and brakes werent up to scratch for something that went like a hot hatch, steering is too light with no fe

  • what are the details of the CTHE engine with a problem?

I believe that MilgeS has the CTHE engine. He is reporting 3 litres of oil used in 2465 miles.

thats way too much oil.

MilgeS.... IS yours the CTHE engine? its on the block to the left as you look at the engine.....

My car oil use is way down after the breather mod, no new engine, in all it took four visits to the dealer and we were well looked after each time, a small inconvenience.

Maybe we all expect too much sometimes? The TFSI is an incredible engine, it has so much power from such a small unit and is probably the shape of things to come. As we see diesels are becoming smaller in 1.6 form and the 1.2 tsi units also.

The service I got from SUK and Mitchells has been very good and I am happy after the breather fix.

What is in the Fabia vRS is not called a TFSi,

well not by Skoda. its a 1.4 TSI S-A Twincharger.

Audi seem to be the ones using the term TFSI.

So many engines 1.2 tsi, 1.2 tfsi, 1.4 tsi,1.4 tfsi then the BHP's, , 105, 122, 140, 150 Seat,

Twincharger or turbo charged.

178, 185 (182 bhp) its hard to know which are problem free. from VAG engines.

The 'Seat Ibiza SC 150 BHP FR with DSG' from 2012-13, seems to be a good engine unless anyone knows better.

** Maybe can take a re-map if someone needed more from it.**

Gets given by VAG the same road tax because of emissions and economy figures as the 178-185 bhp GTi & A1.

If this theory is correct, cars that have been demonstrators should be well run-in and less likely to use oil.

Interesting... mine is an ex demo and hasn't used any oil (touch wood) over the 1500miles or so ive driven it. Maybe thats the key, drive it like you stole it the first few thousand miles

The theory did not work with the Demonstrators First registered on 29th July 2010 in the UK.

Many of them got rebuilt engines or were rejected by the people that bought them.

I think in some cases the PDI sent them out with the wrong oil level on day 1 and then the oil was checked wrong.

**** Or these first Demonstrators where used and abused and no oil check or hot oil check untill a warning light came on.*

Even the cars getting sold to the second owner, a private buyer were given oil changes at 3500-4000 miles and had the wrong oil level in.

Or in some cases, a service stamp. maybe just a service stamp.......

Then the buyers of these Demo cars got a shock on the first week or months when they could not better 35 mpg.

Then there was a ECU upgrade and things improved.

The ECU upgrade was rather important...............

Would be better if Skoda could confirm that.

Then doubts can be removed.

Dealers are just clueless sometimes.

Well the sales people can be.

I dont get any better than this anyway... sure the maxidot says things like 39-40 but real world calculations come back at 35-36.

This is the only pic I can find of my VRs to be :)

Very nice, looks lovely in those colours.

. Easy to touch in any stone chips with the correct paint on a needle (or cocktail stick) if required.

Do not use anything abrasive near the roof, no claying or the likes,

just prepare, polish then wax if needs must.

Gentle with the roof when washing.

Have fun.

Does the vrs have electric folding mirrors? Also to they have a front windscreen rain sensor?

Fogot to look last week on test drive.

Not up until now, maybe on new builds in 2013. Someone might know whats coming.

I like simple, cheap and easy to fix things,

narrow car & not very big mirrors, just fold in manually if i think they might get hit suits me fine.
