Just Removed rear Wiper

Featured Replies

Just removed my rear wiper, and bunged the hole, now has any one got any advice (pictures preferably) of how to remove the washer pipe from the washer bottle, and if I remove it and catch it by accident will it squirt water in the engine bay ?

Just remove the plug for the rear motor.

Just remove the plug for the rear motor.

have you got a pic where that is ? or is it the only plug I can see when looking at the bottle ?

Not sure which one to be honest. Try it and see if the front washer still works I suppose.

the only plug I can see I removed, and front washer stopped working..

there are 2 pipes coming off the washer bottle, the one at the back is for the rear wiper, beware if you disconnect it you will have a ballache to reconnect

Is there 3 pins on the connector? Or is there another connector anywhere?

If it's a 3 pin connector you're going to need a second person to pull the washers, and a multimeter to find out which is the front and cut the unused wire.

thanks but recconecting wont be something on my agenda, So I will have to remove the washer bottle to see the 2nd pipe as I cant see it from just looking at it ?

I will go and have another look didnt check that when I pulled it out, surely if its a case of cutting a wire someone has already done it, or could it change from car to car ?

Just been and checked its a 2 pin plug, but I cant see another plug, unless its behind the bottle,

(Ignore the spillage I pulled the socket out incase it was near there and lost lots of windscreen cleaner)

Then there is another plug for another washer pump.

ok thanks, Im guessing I will need the washer bottle out to find out ? as from what I can see with it there I cant see any other plugs

I would have a look at mine, but the wife seems to have nipped out in it. Since I'd just filled up the carwashing bucket (exciting stuff, haven't washed it in over 6 months), I'll guess that means she wants me to wash HERS! Bah!

haha thx anyway, I just washed and polished mine for the 1st time in months, and now it looks like its about to rain...

if the weather stays good I will have a gander tomorrow, for now I will just have to remember not to flick the stalk backwards..

If that pump has two pipes on it then I would assume that it runs in one direction for the front washers and the other for the rear.

I thought there was only one washer pump unless you have headlamp washers in which case there is also a high pressure pump for them.

indeed it had 2 pipes on it, I tried getting them off but thats when I pulled out the full unit and started loosing all my washer fluid...

But now you say it, makes sense, so when my washer fluid runs low I will pull it out and try and get them off, but wont this make it so that if I do turn it on by accident it will squirt fluid inside the bay ?

I don't know why you don't just plug the rear pipe up that was on the wiper motor asm

I removed mine some time back from the plastic connector pushed a bolt into the pipe and wrapped a cable tie round it, and cable tied pipe to the tailgate metalwork.

because for some reason it stopped squirting out the rear, but I cant find the leak, I have checked the rear and no sign of it, so would rather try and stop it as close to the front as possible so I know its not letting water in my car anywhere else..

ah ok fair point if you are eliminating a leak..

I went back to a rear Wiper having mine removed for 6 months, I just missed it too much..

I gave it 3 good coats of rain X, and I will give it a once over weekly and see how it goes, never missed it in my saxo though, so cant see it being too much of a problem

I'll assume you checked down by the CD changer, and the connector blocks underneath.

Can't understand how people think taking the rear wiper off and sticking a rubber bung in makes the car look better? Even soda didn't think a rubber bung looked good hence base models without a wiper having a rear screen without a hole lol

well unfortunately I haven't got a spare rear window, but it still looks damn site better than that horrible wiper, But we cant all have the same likes and dislikes, be a boring world if we did

Yeah there's only the one washer motor. Just pop off the rearward facing hose from the pump and tuck it to one side. I zip tied mine away. Then to stop the engine bay filling up with screenwash by accident you can connect a foot of silicone hose to the pump outlet and run it down to point at the floor.

As it now runs to the floor you can run the pump if you ever need to drain the tank. You could even buy a spare washer nozzle and position it in front of the intercooler for use on hot days!

Thanks, that's great advice,
