Looks like I might have found the right one, got an agreed price for my Zafira as part ex so just need to go and test drive the VRS now.

  • Drive one and see. They do not all burn oil, only faulty ones which are few, and those get fixed. New ones should not use any oil more than you might expect the type of engine to use for the type of

Hit a soft spot? The guy clearly said in the sub title to put him off it...so I tried my best stupid mk2 ****

"Talk me out of it!"

I missed that.

So a good reply in #2 JoshH.

I don't actually have a problem with the mk2 at all lol, just found it amusing :p

Grey with a white roof would look great

BTW Josh.

Golden Rule...Nothing useful to add to a post?......Dont post

Amen to that.

The issue is when smart Alec's think they know about a car they haven't driven or owned and just comment on rumours.

Pop along to your local Skoda dealer and explain the situation, any decent garage will let you have a good few hours with a car so you can get an idea if it's right for you or not. Not all MKII vRS motors are affected with the oil usage issue so don't let that be a deciding factor! If you are buying a new one then that shouldn't be problem at all because of the new engine design.

Not going to be a new one, budget is 12k. Haven't looked at anything else for days, think i'm sold on the idea now but just looking for the right one.

Thought about getting one of these myself.

Particularly as I was coming from a Mark 1.

In the end I bought a very tidy used S3 as for me it

represented a big upgrade on all counts.

2 door- check

much nicer interior - check

lots more power - check

higher spec in general - check

4wd - check

tried and tested engine - check

On the whole I'm very happy with my choice but am a little gutted

to be leaving the brand as Audi ownership does come with an entirely

different set of stereotypes to those associated with Skoda ownership.

I dare say I'd buy another Skoda down the line one day but it would

most likely be a Yeti. All depends on how remote my next house is.

If going for a second hand one make sure you ask the proper questions, also make sure the answers you receive are honest

I'm familiar with the S3 and very nice it is too,but for the price of a new vRS the S3 will be 5 years old,and it will go at least 10 miles less for every gallon.

My old one may still be for sale, 10plate with 24000 miles, revo stage one and lowering springs, green and black combo.....cpuld try and find the link if ypu want?

I'm trading mine in, if you offer me enough, you could buy it from me :) 60 plate, green , white wheels (black new wheels extra £500) 46k, no oil issues, few stone chips, couple of little scratches, no dents, perfect interior, no kids dogs ciggies ect..... service hist.. Pm me if interested.

Blue with black roof is clearly the best combination :-))

Seriously, I think the black roof creates the illusion of lowering the high up nature of the vehicle's shape. Obviously, colour choice all down to personal preference.

The reason I chose this car?

I needed a cheap automatic car with a little bit of poke. A cheap car is exactly what I got. Around £14k for a car with satnav (not very good) parking sensors and a couple other options fits the bill perfectly. On top of that is the gearbox - the dsg is a minimum £1,300 option across the whole VAG ranges. It's included in the £14k price here and is excellent.

Sorry I can't put you off. If it was list price at £18k+ I'd point you elsewhere but it isn't, and everyone else on here wouldn't pay that either I don't think.

Well that's it..........the deal is done. It's going to be about a week well I sort stuff out but I traded the Zafira in for a 12 plate blue fabia vrs with white roof and white wheels  Reckon it will look good on the drive next to the wifes white Monte especially as our number plates are the same all bar 1 digit! Cant wait ;)

Looking forward to collecting the car on Monday. Will be glad to get rid of the Zafira after 2 years of driving dullness. The wife refused to drive the Zafira and wouldn't let me use the Monte Carlo so she's driven that for the last 12 months. Funny enough she seems keen to drive the VRS when it arrives!

12 plate blue fabia vrs with white roof and white wheels ;)

Same combination as mine. After 30 mins it will have brown wheels lol, nightmare to keep clean ;p

Enjoy it!
