not that I can see, I have sort of done it by taking screen shots and forwarding them.

Are you backing them up to transfer to another device?

There are plenty of backup apps that'll let you transfer to android and iPhone. Possibly win mob as well.

I need to be able to forward them to the establishment, screen shots have worked as attachments but I am now curious to know if it can be done, I did a back up, what software would open this??

Best bet is any app that'll export to csv file.

SMS Backup and Restore from the Play Store. Creates an XML file of all your messages, and the correct XSL file to view them in a web browser. I've been using it for nearly 3 years on Android due to my penchant for flashing/breaking my phones and it's always been great for me. Only caveat is that it won't do MMS, and my brother has a habit of somehow sending even text only messages as MMS (no idea why) so it won't save those.

Have a go with the HTCsync application for pc or mac -download it from HTC's website. You plug your phone in and should be able to export all the messages etc.

Possibly win mob as well.

Sadly not on Windows Phone - there are no SMS APIs available :-(

I have tried the HTC app for mac but allsorts of connection issues occur, before this turns into a mac hating thread, I have tried the same software on a PC laptop and it is just as bad.

Thanks for all your advice, I have resolved the issue by taking screen shots, scroll down and take another screen shot until I have the full thread, then emailed it to myself. Took a while but sorted now.

An ever easier solution. Download a copy of MyPhoneExplorer for your PC then sync your Desire to it either over Bluetooth or USB cable. Keeps copies of contacts, messages, files the lot. Much better than the stock app HTC offers, and I use it all the time with my Note 2 and swear by it!

You may need to install the HTC Sync drivers for your beforehand though (can't quite remember).
