Extended Warranty?

Featured Replies

Looking to extend my warranty in July, possibly by another two years, but all I can find on the Skoda website is reference to the new car extended warranty package you can purchase at the time of buying a new Skoda.

Do I just have to speak to my dealer and negotiate a deal for extending it?

TIA,

H

When my old vRS was coming to the end of it's warranty my local dealership offered to extend.

I had various options:

1 Year Warranty

1 Year Warranty with full RAC

2 Year Warranty

2 Year Warranty with full RAC

They mentioned the car needing a "pre warranty check" however that was being done anyway as I'd taken my car in with a week of the warranty left for a full "head to toe" to see if anything did need looking at while still under warranty.

Some people claim there is no Skoda extended warranty and it's actually satisfied by a third party. All I know is all the documentation I saw before I took a 2yr extension out indicated it was Skoda fulfilled.

Thanks Stoofa, I'll have a chat with my dealer then in a couple of months time.

It's got to go in anyway for a brake fluid change.

Ta.

Althought the warranty is arranged through Skoda they actually use a 3rd party to provide it.

Can sometimes work out better value to go to a 3rd party yourselve. You often get more covered including items the dealer often classes as wear and tear etc.

Or bank the money and it's only spent if you need it. It's just a form of insurance after all.

Which is absolutely great until the £200 you decide to bank doesn't quite cover the £1k repair bill when something catastrophic goes wrong?

I think this is something I'd like to consider. Will they offer the extended contract on a car that has a remap? I don't have one now, but would like one at some point.

Hmmm, I would have thought that any modifications would invalidate the warranty, unless express exclusions are included. Of course, mapping may also cause a change in insurance premium.

I appreciate that, however given that it will be serviced at that dealer (so full Skoda history) and I bought it from them, I'd rather keep the relationship going, as should anything be queried under the extended warranty I have that relationship/loyalty to fall back on.

From what I've read on many threads, that counts for a lot should something go wrong.
