New number plate :-)

Featured Replies

Let's face it, you pull a car because the number plate looks a bit dodgy (Wonder what he's got to hide), everything's legit but, might as well get something out of the pull, good for stats etc. so a ticket is likely to be issued. You pay your money and take your chance.

For me it's A12 DTN (A. P. DenToN) ;-)

  • I found that changing my name by deed poll to KA56 KKL was far cheaper than buying a private plate ;-) The local bobbies and MOT centre seem to be happy with it too! . . . . I'll get me coat :-

No master criminal is going to risk getting pulled by PC Jobsworth for for a badly spaced number plate when they can clone a legit one.

Its all about ANPR and revenue from Congestion charge, average speed cameras, road tax checks, etc, etc.

Folk get wound up cos they don't like being told they are stupid. So Paula: do you really think you need 2 white screws through the bottom of the 8 for me to work it out? Sorry PH11!

Yeah but it's surprising how many get shown on TV shows like Police Intercepters etc. getting pulled for not waring a seat belt or some such minor offence and it turns out they have a car stuffed full of drugs or are an illegal, just no brains some of them.

My point exactly

There's a difference between a proper criminal and a Corsa full of chavs though ;) ;)

As Eccleshill says, any criminal going about his trade is hardly likely to have "please pull me mr officer for any reason you can think of" written on his car. Far better to hide in plain sight and draw no attention to yourself. If you are a criminal and have a flash car (possibly with illegal plates) you won't be using it as part of "the job".

Ermmm....

That is exactly what I am saying! If you are driving round with a corpse in the boot or half a million quids worth of crack cocaine the last thing you want is a number plate with 4 black screws converting PUll MCC to PULL MEE.

Instead you have a discrete motor, not stolen, that is taxed, insured, MOT'd (or cloned to be so). You drive sensibly (but not like a granny) wearing your seatbelt and not yapping on your phone.

Instead you have a discrete motor,

Yeah, we're talking Croydon, not Miami Vice ;) ;)

That depends! Does the label refer to the car driver or the person reading the plate?

I would like the plate KN08 HED with that very ambiguity in mind!!

Personally I don’t like plates that are ’trying too hard’, If it takes more than a second or two to ‘get it’ then it’s a fail IMO, in that instance a personalised plate that simply just has your initials is better.

Having seen mr_awol’s plate I would say that although the spacing is obviously not legal, he has not kicked the arse out of it as from memory it is only spaced:

A BC8E (again not the true reg) rather than

A…..BC8E

When they are spaced like this or for example X 8EN X etc then that is too much IMO.

Not a lover the way the OP’s is done by using a coloured bolt to change a letter or digit, PHll would have worked just as well IMO and been 100% legal.

FWIW mine has both mine and SWMBO’s initials, fortunately her middle name is Lesley so my plate reads Kl0 *** which IMO works (to me anyway).

Fiat has RE12 SCX with a screw in the middle of the C (dealer not me) so you could if you're dirty minded make it sex, possibly at a stretch re sex?

Did you choose that reg before or after the op? :giggle:

I recall seeing a jag (?) locally bearing the legend W33 FUD - a bit self depreciating but maybe only in West of Scotland...

Not too far from Holmfirth to Otley - buy your next car from here and get your name on the plate totally legit
