Whirr from dash

Featured Replies

Used my wife's SE on the motorway for the first time last night. Boy, does it cruise nicely. Noticed a whirr/dhrr noise from the dash every few minutes. Bit like a stuttering relay. Wondering what it is.

Me too but I think it is maybe something rattling, maybe the radio buttons?

I also drove in the rain for the first time today and was surprised how much noise it makes on the roof and wheel arches.

(Been spoilt with Audi/BMW etc before)

Yes I find mine very comfortable and smooth at motorway speeds. Have done 150+ mile trips in it and get out feeling good after them, no aching bones (I'm an old git)

As for the dash noise are you confusing it with a whistling sound, this can come from the gearbox occasionally at certain speeds. No problems, just one or two on the forum have noticed this, me too.

This is different from the whistling sound and is definately not wind or transmission/engine noise. It is a very deliberate and regular electromechanical sound. Like the car is running something repeatedly. Kind of like a fast brrr/spring sound that lasts about a second and gets slighly slower during the sound.
